Transcription profiles

Transcription profiles store a custom combination of AV transcription settings, helping you quickly re-use the same settings across multiple jobs. If you often transcribe files with the same combination of languages, setting up a profile can save time.

Creating a transcription profile

Before you set up a transcription profile, make sure you have the right permissions. For more information, see AV transcription permissions.

To create a profile:

  1. On the Transcription Profiles tab, click New Transcription Profile.
  2. Fill out these fields:
    • Name—enter a name for the transcription profile using letters, numbers, and spaces.
    • Enable automatic speaker partitioning—enable this to identify which words were spoken by each person. The identified speakers are labeled as Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on. For more information, see How speaker partitioning works.
    • Transcription field—select a field to contain the transcriptions. This must be a Data Grid enabled long text field, such as the extracted text field. For more information on enabling Data Grid, see Processing to Data Grid.
    • Primary Language—select the most common language spoken in the audio tracks.
    • Secondary Language(s) (optional)—select up to nine additional languages spoken in the audio tracks.
      • If your audio contains multiple variants of the same language, select only one. For example, if it contains both Mexican Spanish and Colombian Spanish, select either Spanish (Mexico) or Spanish (Colombia).
      • For more information, see How transcription languages work.
  3. Click Save and Back.
The new profile appears in the transcription profile list.

Using a transcription profile

The transcription profiles appear as an option whenever you run the Transcribe mass action. To use one, select it from the AV Transcription Profile field.

When you select a profile:

  • It autofills the language and speaker partitioning fields, and they become read-only.
  • If there were any values previously entered into those fields, it overwrites them.

After a job has been created using a transcription profile, the two of them are no longer connected. You can edit or delete the profile without affecting the job.

For detailed instructions, see Running AV transcription.

Editing or deleting a transcription profile

After you have created a transcription profile, you can edit or delete it from the Transcription Profiles tab. This does not affect any jobs that used the profile, even if they are in progress.

To edit a transcription profile:

  1. On the Transcription Profiles tab, click on the Edit icon (Edit symbol) next to the name of the profile.
  2. Edit the fields.
  3. Click Save and Back.

To delete a transcription profile:

  1. On the Transcription Profiles tab, check the box next to the name of the profile.
  2. At the bottom of the document grid, select Delete from the Mass Actions menu.
  3. Click Continue.
A green notification appears confirming the deletion.
