Use Draft Log Descriptions
aiR for Privilege generates Draft Log Descriptions for all documents predicted as Privileged. Each description is crafted individually for every document based on the content within the extracted text and insights identified by the aiR for Privilege pipeline steps.
aiR for Privilege utilizes a standardized format as a guide to write all draft log descriptions. The draft log description is typically structured with the following sections:
- Type of document—describes the format of the analyzed document. For example Email, Email chain, Document, Spreadsheet, Board meeting minutes, Draft letter, etc.
- Type of legal action—describes the legal action that occurs within the document creating the basis for privilege. For example providing legal advice, requesting legal advice, providing information for the purpose of rendering a legal opinion, reflecting legal advice, containing legal advice, etc.
- Subject matter—summary of the topic of discussion providing insight into the document’s contents without revealing the identified legal advice.
Draft Log Descriptions are saved to the field Priv::Draft Log Description and is available for review in the aiR for Privilege Analysis.
Note: The Draft Log Description field is not an editable field. We recommend copying and pasting the provided text into a separate editable field to make the necessary changes.
Handling Draft Log Descriptions for family propagations
Each document’s Draft Log Description will be based on the extracted text within the four corners of the document.
If a document is privileged due to a family association, we recommend utilizing the Draft Log Description of the parent document to help write a consistent and accurate privilege description for the family members, ensuring alignment in privilege rationale across related documents.
For example:
- Document A is a privileged parent document and Document B is a child document to Document A and is privileged by family.
- Document A’s Draft Log Description states, “Email providing legal advice of counsel regarding financial planning.”
- Copy the Draft Log Description from Document A and update the Final Privilege Log Description field on Document B to read “Excel file attached to email providing legal advice of counsel regarding financial planning.”
