Roles and security permissions

The aiR for Privilege application relies on standard workspace permissions.

We suggest creating three user groups with the following permissions to complete an aiR for Privilege project:

Project Manager

Can be a single person across an entire organization

Common titles: Project Manager, Litigation Support, Technology Specialist

Description of Tasks: An aiR for Privilege Project Manager creates projects, manages settings, defines known items (list of attorney and law firms from any prior priv screen,) runs pipeline steps, monitors annotator progress, QC’s annotator decisions, and performs validation on aiR for Privilege Results.

Requirements:

  • Can dedicate on average 2 hours a day when an aiR for Privilege project is in progress
  • Can operate Relativity at a high level (ability to import/export data, perform mass actions, etc.).

Non-Requirements: Does not need to have knowledge of the matter or an understanding of privilege.

Annotator

Description of Tasks: An aiR for Privilege Annotator reviews content identified by the AI (Disclaimers, Spammers, Law Firm Domains, Lawyers) and confirms its correctness.

Requirements:

  • Can dedicate 6 hours a day when an aiR for Privilege project is in progress. Number of days depends on project size.
  • Has a basic understanding of Relativity (searching, coding, etc.)
  • Has a high attention to detail and an ability to follow directions
  • Is familiar with attorney titles (general counsel, partner, etc.)

Non-Requirements: Does not need to have knowledge of the matter or an understanding of privilege.

Case SME

 

1-2 people depending on project size

Common titles: Sr. Attorney, Partner, In House Counsel.

Description of Tasks: An aiR for Privilege Case SME will review the Law Firms and Attorneys discovered by the aiR for Privilege Annotators and decide whether each item is Privilege Conferring, Privilege Neutral, or Privilege Breaking for this specific matter.

Requirements:

  • Can dedicate 2 hours total for an aiR for Privilege project
  • Has deep knowledge of this specific matter and the people involved in it
  • Understands what it means to be privilege conferring or privilege breaking

Non-Requirements: Does not need access to Relativity or experience in operating Relativity. They can complete their tasks in Excel.

No access is necessary, as a Case SME will generally perform their tasks outside of RelativityOne in Excels shared by a Project Manager.

If a Case SME is performing their tasks in RelativityOne, they will need the following permissions:

  • Alias (Priv) – view
  • Document - view, edit
  • Domain (Priv) – view, edit
  • Entity (Priv) – view, edit
  • Privilege Project – view

No access is necessary, as a Case SME will generally perform their tasks outside of RelativityOne in Excels shared by a Project Manager.
