Entity Analysis
After running Normalizer in the Data Analysis tab, use the Entity Analysis tab to review your consolidated entity list, resolve conflicts between records, and prepare your final entity report for export.
The following terms are used throughout this section:
Record—A pairing of a raw name and PI data from a document. Records are evaluated against each other to determine whether they should be consolidated into an entity. A single record can become an entity if no related records are found.
Entity—A unique individual identified by their name and PI, such as SSN, date of birth, and full address. Each entity is assigned a unique Entity ID, appears in the Entity Report, and consists of one or more records.
Conflict Cluster—A group of records with PI conflicts or similar names. Conflict clusters group entities together so you can review and potentially merge them. Entities are not merged when there is no PI match or when a conflict exists.
To run Normalization, go to the Data Analysis tab. For more information, see Data Analysis.
The Entity Analysis tab includes three subtabs:
- Records - Displays your current record list. If this list is blank, you have not yet extracted records from your documents.
- Entities—Displays your current entity list. If this list is blank, you have not yet extracted records or run Normalizer. To run Normalizer, go to Data Analysis.
- Conflicts—Displays all entities where Normalizer encountered conflicts. Review and resolve these conflicts to help ensure your Entity Report is accurate.
The Records tab is available only on workspaces where data was first ingested into aiR for Data Breach Response on or after September 24, 2025. Workspaces with data ingested before this date do not display the Records tab.
Frequently asked questions
The number of control numbers displayed in the Records tab for a record may differ from the count shown in the Entities list because the Entities tab reflects only those entities that have been successfully processed and assigned control numbers, whereas the Records list may include all records regardless of their processing status.
