Compare
Use Contracts Compare to identify textual differences across sections or entire documents in your data set. You can compare documents already in Relativity or paste text as a base document for comparison. Export comparison results as Excel files with highlights or Word files with tracked changes.
Contracts Compare includes the following capabilities:
- Preview a document before selecting it as the base document for comparison.
- Paste text as a base document without adding a new document to Relativity.
- View similarity scores generated in real time against the selected base document.
- Review differences in a side-by-side redline comparison interface.
- Navigate the comparison using a mini-map that provides a snapshot of similarities and differences.
- Identify differences using color-coded highlights:
- Red — Content exists in the base document but not in the target document.
- Green — Content exists in the target document but not in the base document.
- Export comparison results as Excel or Word files, including all comparison metadata, similarity scores, and highlights or tracked changes.
For step-by-step instructions, see Compare contracts or sections.
Compare requirements
Review the following requirements and limitations before using Contracts Compare.
Incompatible comparison types
You cannot use Contracts Compare in the following scenarios:
- Sections and root documents — If your document list contains both sections and root agreements, an error message notifies you that you cannot compare sections to root documents.
- Documents not processed by Contracts analysis — If your document list contains documents that have not been through Contracts analysis, an error message notifies you that those documents cannot be compared.
Whole agreement comparison and Map Sections
When you compare root agreements, the Map Sections workflow maps each section in the base contract to the best-matching section in the target contracts. For accurate results, verify that your contracts are properly segmented using Contracts Analysis.
