Checking out batches

Use the Review Queues tab to check out batches, review documents, and check completed batches back in.

This page is for batches created using Review Center. For other batches, see Assigning batches and checking batches in and out.

For instructions on how to assign batches to users as an administrator, see Managing batched queues.

Selecting and assigning batches

When you log in as a reviewer, you can see all queues from the Review Queues tab. You can use the list to assign and check out batches.

Checking out already assigned batches

Queues that contain batches assigned to you have a Start button on the right.

Arrow to expand batches under a queue

If you have more than one batch assigned to you from a queue, you can choose which batch to review:

  1. To expand the list of batches, click the arrow next to the queue name.
  2. Locate the batch you want.
    • If there are more than 10 batches within that queue, pagination arrows appear at the upper right.
    • If the batches were grouped by Batch Unit Field, that field's value appears under the batch name. For example, you may see a custodian's name or a file type.
  3. To start coding a batch or queue, click the Start button on the row. If you click the Start button for a batched queue without choosing a specific batch, it will serve up the batch that was created first.

Checking out unassigned batches

If the administrator has left some batches unassigned, you can assign them to yourself. Queues and batches are only visible if you have been assigned to the reviewer group for that queue.

To self-assign a batch:

  1. Locate the queue you want, then click the arrow next to the queue name. This expands the list of batches.
  2. Locate the batch you want. If there are more than 10 batches within that queue, pagination arrows will appear at the upper right.
  3. Click Check Out.

Batch options

Each batch assigned to you has a three-dot menu on the far right.

Options menu for an assigned batch

The batch options include:

  • Check in as complete—mark this batch as completed. This removes the completed batch from the list on the Review Queues tab, but it can still be reassigned by an administrator.
  • Check in as pending—mark this batch as pending.
    • In general, people typically check batches in as pending if there are still documents remaining to be reviewed.
    • Pending batches go to the bottom of the batch list for that queue. You can still check them back out again from the Review Queues tab.
  • Reassign Batch—reassign the batch to another user or unassign it. This option only appears if you have the Assign Batches permission. For more information, see Review Center security permissions.

Both pending and complete batches can be reassigned from the Review Center dashboard and then checked back out. For more information, see Managing batched queues.
