Considerations and prerequisites
Before creating a preservation hold, you must consider how the app works and complete steps before starting the hold.
Considerations
You cannot use both the Preservation hold (Legacy) app and the new Preservation in-place app in the same legal hold project. You must choose one or the other.
Use the new Preservation in-place application for any new preservation holds. For more information, see Preservation in-place.
If you add custodians with the Preserve Data (New) tag and preserve data using the Preserve in-place app (New):
- You cannot add any custodians with the Place On Preservation Hold (Legacy) tag.
- You cannot add a preservation case to the Preservation hold (Legacy) project.
If you add a preservation case to the project in the Preservation hold (Legacy) app:
- Then you cannot add any custodians with the Preserve Data (New) tag.
- The Preserve Data button for new Preserve in-place app will not show up in the project.
Do not select Preservation in the Legal Hold project wizard, its still using the legacy Preservation form.
Before adding a preservation, consider the following list.
- If a data source is not listed, there are no considerations or limitations.
- We recommend creating a preservation with a maximum of 1,000 pieces of data.
- This is to keep a high-performance level.
- We recommend creating multiple holds for larger preservation projects.
- For more information see:
