Redacting linked documents

There are limitations to redacting documents that are exported as links from a repository workspace using Integration Points and ARM. To learn more about how to export linked documents with Integration Points, see Transferring (promoting) data between workspaces.

Considerations

  • After exporting linked documents, you can apply redactions to native spreadsheet and PDF documents, images, and rendered PDFs. You can use the normal workflows for redacting these document types. Markups are properly applied and branded at the time of production.
  • You cannot produce or review produced redacted documents if you do not include the linked documents in the archive when using ARM. The limitation will occur if you use ARM on the Review workspace without including the linked files pointing to the ECA/Repo file share. Upon restore, the documents are not present but you will still have the markup. This means that you will lose all marked up documents unless you restored the linked documents. Archiving both the linked documents and repository documents will also cause double the storage costs.
  • Redacted native documents are written to the linked file in the repository workspace and repository file share. They are not currently stored in the Review file share.
  • For rendered PDFs, if they were rendered in the repository workspace but then exported as links to the Review workspace, you cannot produce or review produce redacted documents. However, if you render the PDF in the Review workspace, the file is stored in the Review workspace.
